Ravings and Rantings

Welcome to my cloud! It's got a nice silver lining somewhere.....Some ranting, some raving--mostly positive stuff, lots of jokes (I can't stay serious). Nothing going on here that a pina colada or mohito can't fix.

Bungle In the Jungle

Let's hear it for Jethro Tull...Hi world!

Missed a few days. Just busy...

It's getting hard to go into work these days. Today I didn't. Woke up with a really sore back and a whopping case of 'downs'/blues, so didn't go in. Don't think M went in either.

NBG, much as I love the guy, isn't great with people. There's been a re-org which is getting rid of our kidney-stone functions (YAY), but in order to keep the new boss/inheritor of the kidney stones happy, NBG wants to transfer one of my key people to her (A). A has many job opportunities and will leave our org rather than move to the new place (she likes working with me). The new boss (inheritor of kidney stones) is a witch to people who work for (and believe me, you work FOR) her. Good people don't have to tolerate that kind of crap and this one won't. NBG doesn't get that you can't force people to do things. They have to WANT to do them.
I suspect that he might not care if A leaves just because she's gay. That's awful, but I fear, accurate.

If A leaves, P will also leave to avoid the same fate.

Dena is taking two years off to adopt a baby from China. This has been known for A YEAR and no plans were put into place to cope with the loss. Dena also doesn't have senior staff, just junior ones (this is what I mean by no plans). One of them is a definite star. She turned down a job offer months ago (suggested having her act in a much more senior job and Dena did that. It worked). With Dena leaving, this lady is panicking that she'll have to deal with the worst, most kidney-blocking tasks. She's probably leaving too.

So, I"m depressed. M too.

It's spring, need time off, the future is looking bleak...think I"ll post some jokes to cheer all of us up!!

Hey at least Mom's eating and exercising.....

Later, world!

My boss is like that too. She never looks for a replacement until AFTER the person has left! This just puts more work on the faithful employees.

I hope you're just in a mini-rut, Bridg. You will come through, but I know how hard it is to muster up enthusiasm for a job when the morale at work is low. Sounds like many big organizations: no foresight at all. Crapters was the same. Breathe and enjoy springtime!

WC you're right...it's the time of year. Today was a day off, got lotsa sleep and errands done, so back at it tomorrow...

Big orgs suck!! But then they're steady too...
