Ravings and Rantings

Welcome to my cloud! It's got a nice silver lining somewhere.....Some ranting, some raving--mostly positive stuff, lots of jokes (I can't stay serious). Nothing going on here that a pina colada or mohito can't fix.

Little Love

Like Cory Hart's voice, not weirdo face....but it's an OK song huh?

How are you WORLD? Enjoying the long Canadian weekend?? Here in the GWN (Great White North) we take stuff like this pretty seriously. Not much is open on this weekend (that I know of). Which means that the few things that ARE open, like restaurant patios and movie theatres, are packed.

So what's Bridget doing? Yah right, ignoring the whole thing.

Finally got two weeks' worth of laundry done (ewwwww), garbage and recycling etc. done, and TA DA finally used the treadmill. That thing whipped my butt in 15 minutes. Actually it had me in 10, I hung in another 5 out of spite. Not bad for getting dressed at 3:00. Yes lazy. Very lazy. Proud of being lazy. But back to this 15 minutes thing--

Am. Very. Out. Of. Shape.

OK this is clearly gonna be a daily thing.

Big item tomorrow is getting car's checkup done, which allegedly takes an hour. I"ve asked them to get rid of a very big rattle that is driving me insane, that may take a little longer. Meanwhile Mom is trying out a new day hospital since she's graduated from the old one.

There are a lot of things she isn't telling me, and it's making me uneasy. But I'm finding out about them gradually so I guess it's OK.

Today was fantastic for TV movies: Good Will Hunting (hadn't seen it before) and the Sixth Sense (have seen 3 times and still love it).

Nothing else new to report. Will be more exciting tomorrow....hope weather/temperature is bearable out there? It's supposed to be in the 30s for the next few days. To me that is unbearable heat, but since the weather guys' success is debatable, am not taking it too seriously.

Buenos noches, y'all!

I really liked Good Will Hunting. As for your treadmill, I would advice you to set for yourself small goals.

At first, say you'll do it for 5 minutes, no more. Then work your way up to 10 minutes, no more. Eventually you will work your way up to what is ideal for you, usually 30 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the person.

Studies have shown that people who set small goals that are easily attainable and keep making the goals higher accomplish more than people who set huge goals (where they most often cannot attain them and become cynical and give up).

ZS, I really liked that movie too. Thanks for the excellent advice, as usual you're right on. Hadn't realized I"d have to start slowly, but your advice was right on the money...

It's beastly hot and humid here too. Fortunately our home improvement project is indoors, in the AC.

Until I return to Cape Town, any mention of the weather will destroy me emotionally.

Thanks Raven (((hugs)))!! Am doing the gradual thing, thanks to you and ZS will probably stick with it.
Sorry for not posting yesterday. I'd screwed up my sleep cycle (staying up till 4 am, waking up at 1, etc.) so yesterday stayed off the Net and went to bed at normal time. It worked!

Tshsmom, it's humid here now too. Over 30 already and looks like it's gonna pour any moment...Poor you Adrian! Could not live without sun. Even in the heat....hugs, Bridg

RAVEN: Im in Belfast at the moment, been in Edinburgh for the past year and a half. Its cold, wet and grey 99% of the time. And when the sun does shine, its not very sunny really. More like a mirage to taunt the masses. Give them hope...

Cape Town is the ONLY place for me, ALWAYS warm and usually sunny.

    My kinda place. : )
